There’s a child in all of us,
A baby begging to be born;
To be freed from cords not umbilical,
Suffocating in the drabs of adult mien.

There’s a child in me,
Pleading to live and to laugh
Like before all these grown-up charade;
When from the belly it roared it’s happiness.

There’s a child in us;
Innocent and peaceful,
Longing to trust and be trusted,
Limited in knowledge she querries so to know.

The child in me is cool,
Not naive as thought but believing;
He cried to let you know his discomfort,
His freedom open in his emotional availability.

There’s a child in me,
Never stagnant always growing;
Though different names she bears,
Is true from infancy to old age.

There’s the child in me,
Who cowers in the corners…
Where name-calling make her hide face,
Running only to embrace of welcoming audience.

There’s a child in me,
Born free of hate and jest,
Whispering ever so quietly…
Would that you’ll realize I’m here
To let you live again!
